Lorain County Early College High School Graduate Pursuing Career That Allows Her to Help Less Fortunate, Underrepresented Populations

Parris Smith is a 2010 graduate of Lorain County Early College High School. We checked in with her to see what she’s up to now!

My name is Parris Smith. I attended Early College High School at Lorain County Community College, graduating in 2010 with my diploma and Associate of Arts degree. I continued my post secondary education at Lorain County Community College (LCCC) earning my Associate of Science and through the University partnership with Cleveland State University I graduated Magna Cum Lauda with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2013.

Upon graduation, I decided to take a semester off and decide which direction I would take in my educational journey, focusing on specific career goals and what course of action to take. During this time, I continued to work as a manager and student coordinator for the Mercy Rising Star Medical Internship Program where I realized that I Parris Smith is a 2010 graduate of Lorain County Early College High School. enjoy working with people and helping the less fortunate, underrepresented populations, which led me to decide on my career aspirations.

In 2014, I enrolled at Walden University for graduate school in order to pursue a Masters in Science Psychology that focuses on Public Administration and Social Change. I expect to graduate in the Spring of 2016.

I am currently employed as a Project Ready Manager at the Lorain County Urban League, located in Elyria, Ohio, where I have been working since June of 2015. I love working with the youth! It allows me a make a positive impact in our local communities.

I look forward to expanding my career after graduation.
