Exploring Impacts of Change on Learning

July 10, 2021, 4:00-5:30 EST

Using the components of IMPACT: Learning Edition, a game that explores possibilities for education, as prompts for facilitated exercises, participants will discover the hidden interconnections of change and imagine possible consequences of future events. When social infrastructure shifts, how could health and well-being be impacted? When people play differently, how could civic life change? What could these shifts mean for how and where people learn? Based on examples from the exercises, speakers will moderate a conversation around proactively thinking about, and possibly acting upon, a collective vision for the future for learning and other systems that support people and society.

Cost: $15

Games for Change Festival Workshop Week

Games for Change is proud to present a week of hands-on workshops and professional opportunities for developers, educators, and intersectional experts who are interested in impact games.

These workshops offer a diverse range of learning experiences that explore unique subject matter from impact design methodologies to the power of games in the classroom. Participating attendees will have opportunities to connect and collaborate with their peers all while guided by expert facilitators from the Games for Change community.

These workshops are presented for three audiences:

  • Game Developers
  • Educators
  • Intersectional Experts*

* – For example: subject matter experts, non profit organizations, funders, and academics. If you are interested in games for impact, but aren’t a game developer or educator – these workshops are for you!

Games for Change Festival

The 2021 Games for Change Festival will take place virtually July 12 – 14 and will once again be free for all attendees! Join a global community of developers, educators, students, and researchers to ignite our imaginations about how games and immersive media can help us realize the potential of the years ahead and address our collective challenges: achieving equity and social justice, ensuring a thriving planet, and regaining a sense of security.

Games continue to be a powerful tool to inspire, connect, and change the world, supporting today’s most pressing challenges. The 2020 Games for Change Festival connected almost 7,000 people from across 81 countries, and G4C2021 will aim to connect even more!
