A self-proclaimed and proven “policy nerd with a heart for the practice,” Lauren McCauley is deeply passionate about transforming education so that we can meet the needs of all students. For her role at KnowledgeWorks, Lauren continues her previous experience partnering with learning communities at the state and local levels as they establish systems of personalized learning. She is committed to supporting the ever-expanding network of personalized learning educators through the development and curation of tools, resources and strategies.

Previously, Lauren was team lead in the South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of Personalized Learning, where she and her colleagues partnered with the state’s school districts to scale and spread personalized, competency-based learning. Prior to that, she worked at the U.S. Department of Education and as Assistant Director of Charleston County, S.C. School District’s Department of Personalized Learning.
