Early College High School Success Story: TaQuaesa Toney

When TaQuaesa Toney learned about Youngstown Early College, she thought, “It sounded too good to be true. I was going to get an associate degree in high school. That was enough for me!” When TaQuaesa Toney learned about Youngstown Early College, she thought, “It sounded too good to be true. I was going to get an associate degree in high school. That was enough for me!”

But it was true and Youngstown Early College was able to open up many opportunities for TaQuaesa.

“I wonder if I would have been as interested in going to college if it weren’t for early college,” she said. When she was in middle school, she hadn’t thought past the dances and “high school fun” that awaited her.

TaQuaesa excelled in high school, graduating with honors and both a high school diploma and an associate in arts degree. After high school she went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Youngstown State University.
