Rethinking Learner Profiles: Strategies to Honor Diversity & Build Student Ownership

Learner profiles are often a cornerstone of personalized learning classrooms. But are they doing enough for our learners? The Leading Change Professional Learning Community is facilitating four-part learning series with educators from around the country to examine learner profile approaches, challenge our thinking about diversity and develop new strategies for inclusive, learner-centered environments. Through four virtual sessions, including asynchronous opportunities to engage at your own pace, educators will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore the potential for learner profile processes to enable learner agency, authentic teacher-student relationships and inclusive learning environments
  • Learn strategies to move away from stereotypes and towards understanding the diversity that exists in your classroom(s), who your students are as people and how each individual experiences learning
  • Partner with other educators to share and reflect on current approaches, new strategies and lessons learned
  • Practice collaboratively creating living learner profiles that honor diversity and learning assets and needs, both academic and social-emotional
