KnowledgeWorks Chief Learning Officer, Virgel Hammonds, will be keeping Austin weirdly educational at SXSWedu on March 6 and 7. Hammonds will participate in two sessions at the weeklong conference and festival:
Hammonds will join Chris Sturgis of CompetencyWorks and Susan Patrick of iNACOL for a rapid-fire discussion on problems of practice (or policy) in implementing competency-based education. Challenges to unpack and solve can and will be posed by each – and by the audience.
Hammonds will join Cederick Ellis, Superintendent of the McComb School District, Jim Rickabaugh, Senior Advisor of The Institute for Personalized Learning, Kelly Young, Executive Director of Education Reimgained, and Trace Pickering, Associate Director of Education Reimagined for a session that will help attendees discover how it all starts with a paradigm shift from school-centered to learner-centered education. They will prototype solutions to challenges, hear from, and work with leading pioneers who are helping districts across the country make this transformation a reality.
