Washington Partners, LLC

John Dean is founder and a principal of the Washington, D.C. public affairs firm of Washington Partners, LLC.  The firm specializes in federal education programs and represents educational and financial  institutions, non-profit associations and organizations, and others involved in education and financial services.  Dean is also an attorney and managing partner of the Law Offices of John E. Dean, also in Washington, D.C.   

Prior to founding Dean Blakey & Moskowitz in 1985, Dean served as Associate Counsel to the Committee on Education and Labor of the U.S. House of Representatives, where he provided staff support to Members of Congress on the Higher Education Act, Older Americans Act, the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act, and on other programs.

In 1996, Dean founded Higher Education Washington, Inc. (HEWI), an information resources company to serve the education community. HEWI publishes four newsletters focusing on federal education programs, Student Lending, Information Technology in Postsecondary Education, Information Technology in Student Aid, and Financial Futures. The company also sponsors annual conferences on modernization of the student aid delivery system, distance education, and on other topics as well as producing the free, on-line news service HEWI NewsLine.

Dean is a graduate of Georgetown University and Georgetown University Law Center and resides in McLean, Virginia.
