Technical Assistance Coach

ABOUT EDWORKS

EdWorks is focused on answering the national call to build high-performing high schools that dramatically improve students’ ability to achieve success in a global economy. As a not-for-profit, fee-for-service entity, EdWorks seeks to build high-performing high schools supported by effective local and state systems. EdWorks has five fundamental beliefs:

JOB SUMMARY

The EdWorks Technical Assistance Coaches will be deployed in the field to provide technical assistance to the instructional and leadership staff of schools by guiding them through the implementation of the EdWorks Model for High School Improvement. All EdWorks coaches are trained directly by the primary designers of the EdWorks Model, and a primary responsibility will be ensuring fidelity to implementation design and continued updating of knowledge and skills based on lessons learned.

Duties and Resposibilities: 
  • Implement the EdWorks Model for High School Improvement on-site by following the scope and sequence, and using professional development workshops and materials prepared for use in EdWorks sites.
  • Provide technical assistance to all members of the school’s design team including: new and current building level leadership support, curriculum directors, teachers, union leaders, community members, etc.
  • Interfaces with members of EdWorks management team to ensure that the needs of the partner districts are being met.
  • Coordinate access to additional resources such as short-cycle assessment providers, curriculum alignment services, evaluation providers, professional development, etc.
  • Actively participates in and contributes to the EdWorks on-line professional learning community including maintaining on-going dialogue with own school sites.
  • Build distributed leadership by promoting democratic governance and shared decision making.
  • Build sustainability and capacity for continued school through the use of reflective practice and critical analysis.
  • Assists in the coordination of and collection of data for EdWorks evaluation process and customer satisfaction survey.
  • Provides regular written reports to EdWorks management on the progress at the school, and drafts the final report to the site at the end of each year.
  • Keeps accurate time, expense, and activity records.
Requirements: 

This position requires at least seven years of demonstrated success and leadership in education and school improvement. Expertise/licensure in English/Language Art or Math required. Experience in coaching or professional development preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of educational leadership issues, including challenges associated with district and school redesign, current education reform issues, and effective education strategies is desirable. Excellent organization and project management skills; ability to manage details, and work independently; and ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities accordingly. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Must be able to independently make strategic decisions, generate innovative ideas and solutions, and multitask due to a wide variety of tasks and constantly changing activities in the area. Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred.
