Governor Strickland's State of the state address

KnowledgeWorks Foundation believes that educational investment is endemic to Ohio’s ability to reverse the State’s “brain drain,” improve educational attainment and build a highly skilled 21st century workforce. Hence, the foundation commends Governor Ted Strickland for his focus on education in today’s State of the State address.

Ohio's Career Pathways program

KnowledgeWorks Foundation announced today the release of a new documentary, Career Pathways Explored: Stories from Ohio. The documentary details the importance of forming partnerships between education, economic, social and workforce development organizations to improve the skills of low wages workers and better serve the workforce needs of employers.

National report

In its recent analysis, “College Participation Rates for Students from Low Income Families by State,” the research newsletter, Postsecondary Education Opportunity, rated Ohio fifth nationally in the rate of increase (4.8%). From FY2002 to FY2005, Ohio’s overall rank improved from 21st to 15th nationally in overall low income participation in higher education.
